Our CommunityLike the Oak in our name, our school is Rooted and Growing. At Oak Hill Montessori, our celebration of growth through learning and doing is rooted in four decades of solid achievement: achievements of students, families, teachers, staff and of the whole school as a vital and evolving organism. That evolution into an exemplary Montessori community is sustained by a rich and creative flow of resources:
The health, growth and vitality of Oak Hill Montessori—as a haven for creative expression, independent growth and optimal learning for our students—is a tribute to the generous devotion of time, talent and financial support from the hundreds of individuals that form the Oak Hill Community. We strongly encourage all parents to be actively involved in making Oak Hill Montessori an exceptional educational experience for your children. What Does it Mean to be an Independent School? Oak Hill Montessori, as a private, nonprofit, independent school, has the freedom to determine its own direction and standards. Our school was founded with a clear and distinct educational mission, and is run by a Board of Directors that makes decisions regarding the school's current operations and future direction in support of that mission. As is the case for most independent schools, tuition does not cover all of the expenses involved in running and growing our school. We rely on the generous support of the Oak Hill Community to ensure that Oak Hill Montessori continues to thrive and grow. Hear What Our Parents are Saying "We chose Oak Hill for elementary because of what I always refer to as the how factor. How the children learn by using the materials to really understand the work not just to memorize information. How they learn to work side by side with children of differenct ages and backgrounds. Not only are they learning on an academic level, but how they learn to resolve conflict and work together to accomplish tasks on a social level. The environment is one that invites learning, and seems to breed confidence in even the youngest child." -Amy & Eric Schumacher, Parents of Casa & Lower Elementary Students
"My husband and I are so gratefull that we found OHM 5 years ago. We were just lookingfor a preschool for our older son but soon realized that OHM was a hidden jewel. We quickly enrolled him in the elementary program and it was the best decision we have made not only is OHM highly academic but our son has learned life lessons about how to be a part of a community. His love for learning and research is because OHM has taught him that learning and education can be fun and interesting. We want school to be a positive experience for both of our sons and we want to build their foundation for their love for learning. We have seen our boys mature academically but also socially. They are both very confident, well-mannered and respectful boys. I am so impressed with all of the Montessori children. They just seem to be wonderful!" -Jodi & Arash Asadi, Parents of Casa & Lower Elementary Students
"My son is excited about going to school every morning and Oak Hill has provided him just the right environment! He takes pride in his work at school and is often encouraged to explore his own interests. The teachers at OHM provide a number of work choices and he loves being given choices and works at his own pace. He has also thought and acted independently from an early age which has directly resulted from the practices at OHM." -Satish Subramanian & Sujatha Sitaraman, Parents of Toddler and Lower Elementary Students
"Oak Hill fosters the love of learning and creativity that challenges our children academically." -Anonymous, Parents of Two Lower Elementary Students
"None of the public or private schools we looked at for our children's elementary education compare to the Montessori approach to learning. The classrooms are filled with wonderful hands-on materials that foster the joy of learning. We love that the children are free to move about the classroom and choose materials to work with based on their level of interest. We continue to be amazed at how well our children grasp math concepts and already understand the process of researching, writing and presenting reports to their classmates. We are confident that Oak Hill will provide our children with a great foundation for future success." -Wendy & Mark Kreimer, Parents of Lower & Upper Elementary Students
