Board Member General Responsibilities
Board positions are voluntary, with a three year minimum term. The Board tries to stagger the tenure of Board Members to ensure a mixture of experienced and new members. New members are nominated by the Committee on Trustees and elected by the Board in April. If you are interested in serving on a Board Committee, becoming a Board Member, or nominating someone to serve, please contact the Board Chair.

Hire, support, evaluate and provide succession planning for the Head of School, who in turn is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the school |

Govern the organization to provide continuity and support of strategic initiatives |

—Provide diligent oversight and processes for oversight —Periodically review the health of the school —Periodically review the mission of the school —Review and revise Board bylaws, policies and procedures |

Lead and support strategic planning efforts by providing broad direction and high-level strategic goal |

—Ensure strategic initiatives support the mission of the school —Work with the HOS to develop a vision, strategic goals and policies to support the mission |

Show Leadership in fundraising efforts |

—Initiate and facilitate fundraising for strategic initiatives (capital campaign or Major Gift) —Participate in ongoing fundraising efforts, facilitated by Administration, which support the school's ongoing operation budget. |
