After School Enrichment

After-School enrichment activities are provided to enhance our students’ experience at Oak Hill. We have several opportunities for children at the elementary and junior high level. If your child is contracted to be in the School’s after-school childcare program (ELAS) and you sign him/her up for the after-school activities listed below you will not be charged for the ELAS program during the time that the student is enrolled in an activity.

Payment/Cancellation Policy
After-School Enrichment programs require payment at the time of registration.  
Cancellations must be received 2 weeks prior to the start of the program.
No refunds, credits, or transfers will be issued for requests received less than two (2) weeks from the start of any class
.

Art with Rene Block

Grades 6, 7 & 8

Monday 3-5pm from September 20 through December 6 (Makeup date Dec. 13)

For the first time Rene Block, OHM Art Director, will offer an Art Class for the oldest students in the school. Students will explore a variety of meduims including: printing on their own art aprons, larger clay works and multi-color reduction prints, acrylic on canvas and collage books. Rene will take suggestions from the group for other media and techniques they might explore. Please bring your own snack.

 

When: Monday from 3-5pm

Art with Rene Block

Grades 3, 4 & 5

Wednesday 3-5pm from September 15 through December 1 (Makeup date Dec. 8)

For the first time Rene Block, OHM Art Director, will invite the 3rd years to join the Upper Elementary children in after school art. Join us for a relaxing but challenging exploration of craft and art projects to include printing on your own art apron, exploring clay, printing with a variety of materials, acrylic and watercolor exploration and some serious drawing. Please bring your own snack.

 

When: Wednesday from 3-5pm

Game Club

Wednesday 3-5:15pm from September 8 through May 25

Open to Upper Elementary and Junior High Students

The ever popular Oak Hill Game Club returns for another fun-filled good times! Join Upper Elementary teacher, Glen Jones and Assistant, Megan Flod, to discover fantastic games. The 24 spots are on a first come first serve basis so, you'll want to get your registration in early! For students who wish to reserve all three rounds* for a total of 30 sessions (the entire school year), there will be 8 spots available at $250 per student. The cost includes a hearty, healthy snack and additional gaming supplies.

Piano Lessons

Wednesday and Thursday 3-5:30pm

Lynn Stonehocker is offering piano lessons on Wednesday and Thursdays. Lynn began playing violin and piano at the tender at of 6. She has a BA in violin performance from the University of Miami and has performed in orchestras and chamber groups across the U.S. and internationally. Lynn has been giving lessons to Oak Hill students for many years. Contact Kathie Roth for more information.

 

"Resect the Earth"

Grades K, 1, 2, 3 and 4

Wednesday 3-4pm from September 15 through October 13

"Respect the Earth" will be led by Anne Wussler, Lower Elementary 2 teacher. We will use Native American traditions for us to get to know each other and learn about respect for the Earth. We'll do storytelling, acting and moving, art projects and games. We'll be outside as we are able each session. A snack will be provided.

Girls in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)

Grades 3, 4 & 5

Thursday 3:10-5:15pm from September 30 through December 2

Women make up more that 46% of the workforce, yet only 25% of the workers in STEM fields. Research findings point to important environmental and social barriers that continue to block women's participation and progress in science, technology, engineering and math. Join Junior High math/science teacher Sarah Plumb working on several projects which intergrat the STEM fields this fall. Session fees include all materials, several take-home projects and a small snack.

 

When: Thursday from 3:10-5:15pm

Spanish Club with Gema

Tuesdays 3-4pm from October 12 through December 14

Children's House - 1st Grade

The ever popular Spanish Club with OHM Spanish teacher, Gema Nelson, is a must for the younger set. This session will cover the book: "Una oruga muy hambrienta"("A very hungry catapillar"). We will review and learn new vocabulary including colors, numbers, shapes, fruits and other foods, days of the week and the cycle of the catapillar / butterfly. The cost of this course includes all the ingredients for cooking and art materials. We will have a snack or cook one together from a Spanish speaking country every week.

 

When: Tuesdays from 3-4pm

Where: Gema's Landing

Dates: October 12, 19, 26; November 2, 9, 16, 23, 30; December 7, 14 (10 sessions)
