Casa 1 Newsletter December 2008 Dear Casa 1 families, I just took a peek out the window and discovered that we seem to be having a mini blizzard outside. My wish has come true once again for the holidays; that we have snow covering the ground. I just love it when it looks like a winter wonderland outside. The below zero temperature however, was not on my wish list. L Speaking of the weather please be sure to send your children dressed warmly each day. As long as the wind-chill and temps are above 0 degrees, the children go outside to play. We seem to be having problems with misplaced mittens. If possible, please send a backpack with your child daily. We are encouraging children to put their mittens, hats, and scarves inside their backpack, so hopefully, these items won’t get lost. A couple of weeks ago we hosted our annual Grandparents/Special Friends Day. We had such a wonderful response; in fact, almost all of our children had someone to share their day with them. A very special “thank you” to all the grandparents and special friends who were able to make this day so special for our children and to those who purchased books for our classrooms. We look forward to having you visit our classrooms on Friday for the Solstice Celebration. The children are very excited to have you come and are looking forward to sharing their work with you. Please give your child the opportunity to choose what work he/she wishes to show you. This gives them the ability to make their own work choices much like they do every day in the classroom and it also gives them the chance to select something which they will feel successful with. The weather outside will be frightful but indoors, it will be delightful, especially in the activity room which will be filled to the brim with wonderful goodies. Please be mindful of drinking coffee in the activity room and not in the classrooms. If anyone would like to care for our parakeet, Sky Blue, over the holidays, she would love to keep you company. Please let me know before Friday if you would be willing to take her. Have a safe, warm, wonderful holiday season with those you love. ~ Debbi~
