Volunteer OpportunitiesOak Hill Montessori relies heavily on the generosity and support of our parent volunteers. It has been estimated that over 6,000 volunteer hours are donated each year (about 40 hours/family). This equates to an enormous financial savings for our school, as well as providing parents the opportunity to be involved with the school, connect with each other and be an integral part of our Oak Hill Community. Building a sense of belonging and community is central to Oak Hill. We intentionally focus our efforts on fostering friendships and making volunteering fun, and in so doing enrich our school for our children, our families and visitors. We value traditions and gatherings such as the Ice Cream Social, Parent Education evenings, Open Houses, our holiday celebration, staff appreciation luncheon, and the end-of-the-year family picnic. We try to make our school events relaxing and festive, with beautiful settings and sumptuous refreshments to fit the occasion. This requires the efforts of many, and all are welcome to volunteer efforts, large and small, in whatever capacity you can reasonably participate. Thanks to the efforts of our dedicated volunteers, the Oak Hill Community remains strong and vital, costs are held down, and your children see and understand what it means to be a committed volunteer. How do I Volunteer? In an effort to draw on the many talents of our parent community we solicit volunteers in a variety of ways:
If there is a specific Committee you'd like to work with, please contact the Committee Chairperson (click here for Committee descriptions). What if Something Changes After I Return the Volunteer Form? If you change your mind during the year, learn a new skill that you'd like to share with the school, or your availability changes—no worries! If you checked off your interest in a particular event we'll always call you in plenty of time before the event to see if you're still available. If you'd like to update your Volunteer Form throughout the year, just call the office and someone will give you a copy of your current form so you can see what you originally checked. Then you can update your information and we'll update our records in the volunteer database.
