After School Programs

After-School enrichment activities are offered by the school to enhance our students’ experience at Oak Hill Montessori. We schedule enrichment classes that are typically conducted by our teachers but could be given by other outside resources approved by Oak Hill Montessori.

Payment/Cancellation Policy

  • After-School Enrichment programs require payment at the time of registration. Students will NOT be placed on registration lists without payment.
  • Cancellations must be received two (2) weeks prior to the start of the program.
  • No refunds, credits, or transfers will be issued for requests received less than two (2) weeks from the start of any class.

Chess Club 

with Twin Cities Chess Club

Mondays: 3:30-4:30 p.m. 
Dates:   March 20; April 3, 10, 17, 24; May 1, 8, 15
Ages: 4 and 5 year olds
Minimum 8 students
Cost: $72
Location: TBD

Learn to play a game of chess. Practice good sportsmanship. Chess is a tool for teaching skills such as concentration and critical thinking. And it can help build student self-esteem as well. It's a game that can change kids' lives.

LE Knitting & Game Club

with OHM LE Teachers, Heidi James and Anne Wussler

Thursdays: 3:30-4:30 p.m. 
Session 4 Dates: April 13, 20, 27; May 4, 11
Grade: LE Students
Maximum 15 students
Cost: $50 per session (includes snack)
Location: LE Classroom

Join Heidi and Anne for the Lower Elementary Game Club. Come play some of your favorite games, trade your favorite cards, learn to knit or work on a knitting project. Please bring your own games and knitting supplies. Build your friendships and start new connections!

Spanish Club 

with OHM Spanish Teacher, Gema Nelson

Tuesdays: 3:30-4:30 p.m. 
Dates: April 4, 11, 18, 25; May 2, 9, 16, 23, 30; June 6 
Thursdays: 3:30-4:30 p.m.  
Dates:  April 6, 13, 20, 27; May 4, 11, 18, 25; June 1, 8
Grades: Children's House  - 1st Grade
Minimum 8 students/maximum 12 students
Cost: $175
Location: Art Room

Materials, games, crafts and activities include the reviewing and learning of articles of clothing, days of the week, the weather and the family. Club includes materials and a snack. 

Soccer Club 

with OHM LE1 Assistant, Seth Wait

Wednesdays: 3:30-4:30 p.m. 
Dates:   April 12, 19, 26; May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31
Ages: 5 and 6 year olds (Must be 5 years old by June 1)
Minimum 8 students/maximum 12 students
Cost: $150

Learn the basics of soccer with Seth. Students will play games and have fun outside! Snack included.

After School Choir 

with OHM Music Specialist, Lacey Iverson

Tuesdays: 3:30-4:30 p.m. 
Dates: March 7, 14, 21; April 4, 11, 18, 25
Grades: Lower and Upper Elementary and Junior High
Minimum 8 students/maximum 25 students
Cost: $130
Location: Music Room

This group is open to all LE/UE/JH students with a strong interest in singing! Materials will be selected based upon the final enrollment of the group, but will reflect a variety of genres.

2016-2017 Oak Hill Archery League
with OHM Physical Education Specialist, Joan Willis

Not everyone can dunk a basketball but kids of all ages and abilities can enjoy success with archery! Considered to be a discipline rather than a sport, archery is a life-long activity that helps to develop confidence, patience, self-control, cooperation and focus. Associated with the National Archery in Schools Program and utilizing International-Style Target Archery Rules (Olympics), Joan Wills and her team lead the Oak Hill Montessori Archery League.

Other Opportunities

At times, the school permits parents or other individuals outside of the school to use space at OHM to conduct activities or programs such as music lessons, Girl Scout meetings etc. These programs are not arranged by Oak Hill Montessori and therefore do not follow the guidelines or the payment policies of our After School Enrichment Classes. 

Girl Scouts

Girl Scouts like to have fun, meet new friends and make a difference in the world. Starting as early as kindergarten girls can be a part of the fun. Oak Hill Montessori currently has three active troops with girls at the Daisy to Cadette level. If you or your daughter would like to be part of Girl Scouts at Oak Hill Montessori contact Elizabeth Lewen and she will help you and your daughter become a part of the fun. Piano, Violin and Voice Lessons with Lynn Stonehocker

Monday, Thursday and Friday: 3:30-6:00 p.m. 
Lynn Stonehocker is offering piano, violin and voice lessons Monday and Thursday. Lynn began playing violin and piano at the tender age of six. She has a BA in violin performance from the University of Miami and a minor in piano pedagogy. Lynn has performed in orchestras and chamber groups across the U.S. and internationally. In addition she performs locally for weddings and private parties. Lynn has been giving lessons to Oak Hill Montessori students for many years. Guitar, Violin and Voice Lessons with Zach Johnson

Wednesday: 3:30-6:00 p.m. 
Zach Johnson is offering lessons for guitar, violin and voice. Zach has a music performance degree and has been teaching private lessons for over 15 years. Zach has also nationally touring singer / songwriter. For more information on Zach Johnson please go to his website at zacharyscotjohnson.com.
